Public Meetings in Port Orford and Tillamook Focused on the Commercial Nearshore Fisheries

NEWPORT, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is holding two public meetings to discuss the commercial black and blue rockfish and nearshore fisheries. The meetings will be held in person with virtual or phone-in options Sept. 9 in Port Orford and Sept. 11 in Tillamook.

ODFW commercial fishery managers will give an update on federal management and stock assessments and review the 2025 commercial fishery. The agenda also includes:

  • Process and options for setting 2026 state regulations on bi-monthly vessel catch limits.
  • Industry proposal to change permit lottery threshold.
  • Black Rockfish Management Area evaluation.
  • Input from industry and other interested parties.

Both meetings are held 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. with virtual options on Microsoft Teams from your computer, tablet or smart phone.
