ICE Agents Arrest a Man in Newport

At 9 o’clock this morning, Wednesday September 17, masked agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) apprehended a young couple on Elizabeth Street, across from the Allred hotel in Newport, Oregon.

An eyewitness said 7 ICE agents in 4 vehicles converged on the scene and took a man away.  According to the witness, his female companion was allowed to leave. 

Local advocates and an immigration attorney have been in contact with the family, in an effort to gain more information.
