Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus Celebrates 30 Years

This September, the Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus invites the community to a musical “Class Reunion” like no other, marking 30 years since their chartering with the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly SPEBSQSA). The milestone performance will take place on September 20th, at the First Presbyterian Church of Newport, and promises an afternoon filled with rich harmonies, laughter, and a heartfelt look back at three decades of song.

Chartered in 1995, the Coastal-Aires are renowned for their signature barbershop sound and camaraderie. This year’s theme, “30 Year Reunion,” pays tribute to the friendships, memories, and musical milestones that have shaped the group since its inception. Audiences can expect a nostalgic repertoire featuring barbershop classics, crowd favorites, and a few surprise numbers that nod to the chorus’s journey. Former members and their families are invited to join in the celebration, making this performance a true reunion of voices and hearts.

Whether you’ve been connected with the chorus in the past or simply love great music, this is one reunion you won’t want to miss! Doors open at 2:00 pm, and admission is a suggested donation of $10. There will be silent auction of gift baskets featuring local artisans and businesses, as well as Beatles memorabilia, African art, and other collectibles, at intermission.
